Clay pigeon shooting - tips for a beginner?

I too am a complete novice, but twice now we have held a hog-roast & clay pigeon shoot in aid of charity at my mates' place.
The things I do remember are to lean forwards slightly, as the recoil is going to shove you backwards a bit.
Also, hold the shotgun tight to your shoulder, so that it doesn't kick & bruise you.Wear ear defenders, or you will have ringing in the ears for a day or so.
On the request "pull", wait a small tick until the clay is up high, this seems to make it a tad easier to hit one. Keep in mind the wind speed & direction, those clays seem to veer off a bit in wind.

It is very effectively that Out of a box of 25 cartridges, I managed to shatter 4 of them, which is very satisfying.

Best of fun with it,
